Chapter Spotlight: Georgia Tech
We've heard about a number of great Ventures ideas in the weekly Chapter Spotlight, and this week is no exception. Take a look at Georgia Tech's multi-pronged approach to integrating fair trade products into their Ventures strategy! A great way to expand existing Ventures, while also raising awareness for greater social and economic justice in the world.
Our Chapter is relatively new, so our campus is not very aware of Nourish and what we do. To combat this, our chapter has been trying to partner at big events with other organizations on campus. This November we are trying to partner with the African Student's Association for their annual event Taste of Africa. This is a great partnership, because GT Nourish went to Uganda last Summer and is planning to go back in the Summer 2016. To help gain awareness and make a profit from the event, our Venture Co-Director Sarah ordered the fair trade jewelry and scarves found on the Shop Nourish website. We are also really excited to start selling them closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas time as well, because they make great gifts! Another idea that one of our Business Co-Directors had was that we could put on trunk shows at different sororities, and gain awareness by telling them about our cause while also making money for our Summer 2016 project. Another idea to raise awareness around your campus is to chalk the sidewalks around highly visited buildings on campus. We do this around our Student Center and Academic Studying buildings to raise awareness about events we are hosting!
