Chapter Spotlight: Randolph-Macon College

Check out R-MC's great ideas for Hunger Lunch! Take particular note of their ticket pre-sales strategy and their delivery option. They spent the week leading up to the Hunger Lunch selling tickets in advance, which people then redeemed on the day for a meal: this dramatically extends the reach of the sales from only the people who happen to be passing by on the day, to potentially everyone on campus! They also offered a $3 delivery option for professors and students who preferred to have their hot lunch brought to them by an R-MC student on the day. It's also usually possible to negotiate a bulk discount with your food supplier, especially if you highlight the social cause underlying the Venture and convey to the vendor that this sale is generating funds for your partner community abroad.

The Randolph-Macon chapter just held their annual Hunger Lunch and it was quite a success! The members each sold tickets to faculty, staff, and other students at R-MC to get an idea of how much food to order from their Haitian Caterer, Pearl of Haiti Catering. They offered pick up or delivery for those busy professors who still wanted to support their chapter of Nourish International. They had their members sign up for shifts; and, once they arrived, the members were delegated to certain jobs by the exec board. Despite selling tickets ahead of time, the Randolph-Macon chapter welcomed people walking by and sold many meals to people without tickets. It was a busy afternoon for all the Nourish Members, but it was a fun venture that helped raise a lot of money for the chapter.
